My name is Tylre Synclair and I am a television addict.
Now, before you close out my file and continue on with your day, let me tell you why my addiction could help you: I have turned this addiction into a passion, picking up a minor in the top film school in the world, creating two of my own web series, and starting work on my master’s in something I am skilled at so that I can do something I love: work in the entertainment industry.
Having graduated from the University of Southern California in 2017 with an English degree and minor in Screenwriting and started work on a Master’s degree in Communication Management with an emphasis in Media and Entertainment, I seek a position that allows me to combine my business acumen with the entertainment industry – specifically, scripted television writing and/or development as well as directing, production, or casting.
I am fortunate to have had internships with amazing companies that afforded me opportunities to make real-world contributions that significantly improved production and increased revenue. These positions played to my strengths in verbal and written communication, organization, project management, and leadership working both independently and with a team. My two internships with Fullscreen Media allowed me to apply all of my past experience in entertainment, social media, and marketing in order to participate in furthering the development of their Netflix-style application, which streamed both original and licensed content to their viewers. Having started in the editorial department and networked my way into the scripted development department at Fullscreen, I then moved into two new internships during the Fall of 2017 as a talent & casting intern with CBS Television and the current series & development intern at DreamWorks Television Animation. Working for two large companies while taking classes forced me to work on my time management skills as well as network effectively and professionally, as I would not continue with DreamWorks and stay on with CBS Television during pilot season 2018. Having enriched my connections with the executives at CBS, I then went on, with their help, to work for Wendy O’Brien as a casting assistant. During my time there, I worked on two television pilots, Unt. Lil Dicky Pilot (FX) and The Edge of Seventeen (YouTube Red), two feature films, Wyrm (Endeavor Content) and Torrance (Warner Bros.), and ran camera, sent appointments, and checked avails for various projects sprinkled in between such as Now Apocalypse (Starz), A.P. Bio (NBC) and You’re the Worst (FX).
While I have had fantastic professional opportunities in both Texas and California, I believe that the most important and most educational opportunities I have had were to write, cast, produce, and direct two original web series with a few of my peers. Utilizing my experience in marketing, social media, and management as well as my writing degrees, I was able to create two projects that are beautiful and hilarious that I am very proud to add to my portfolio. Furthermore, I have since gone on to help start a production company currently called the Crosstown Players, which produces both live entertainment such as plays and sketch comedy shows as well as short-form digital content. Currently, we are in the process of seeking funding for an experimental short film that I wrote and will direct.
I am a quick study and extremely passionate about learning new skills. I am adept at multitasking and thrive in fast-paced environments. My positive attitude and emotional intelligence enable me to collaborate well with others while my versatility makes me a vital asset to any organization. My passion for film and television, however, makes me vital to your organization. I look forward to hearing from you soon!
