Hello! My name is Stephen Kaiser-Pendergrast and I am an independent feature film editor based in Los Angeles, California.
When editing, I make it a point to be quick but thoughtful in my work and focus first and foremost on communicating the story as clearly as possible. In the past, I have helped directors who were unsatisfied with their story rewrite their films in the editing room (whether that meant changing structure, changing genre, changing character relationships, changing the plot, or even recommending new story beats for reshoots).
I work in Premiere but also have skills with Avid and am often called upon to be a one-man-editorial department during film shoots--downloading footage, transcoding, syncing, constructing dailies sequences, and creating rough edits of scenes within 24-36 hours of their being shot.
In addition, I also have edited short films, spec commercials, corporate videos, and sizzle reels. I have been flown across the United States and internationally for my work, and films I have edited have appeared at many film festivals all over the world.
Finally, due to my extensive experience shepherding low-budget films through post, I have the skills to be your Post-Production Supervisor after picture lock is achieved, if required. I have knowledge of all Post-Production pipelines (color, sound, VFX, music, etc) and have a long list of trusted collaborators whom I can recommend for every post position.
